Selling a TXT in Cape Town
The best-selling golf cart ever built. Simple, cheap to keep, and there is a TXT for every budget — from 36-volt resistor carts to late 48-volt and EX1 petrol models. From Atlantic Beach and Blouberg to Steenberg, Clovelly and the Southern Peninsula, we buy carts across the Mother City and its surrounds.
E-Z-GO's steel frames do rust in Cape Town's sea air — we check the rear rails and the battery tray in your photos and price the clean-up honestly. RXVs and ELiTE lithium carts still fetch strong money here; a TXT with surface rust is still very much worth selling.
Collections across Cape Town are routine for us — gated complexes, golf estates, storage units, the lot. We book a two-hour window that suits you and phone ahead. If the cart lives somewhere with restricted access, a visitor code or a note at the gate is all we need.
What a TXT is worth in Cape Town
A clean E-Z-GO TXT typically sells privately for R20 000 – R75 000 in Western Cape (updated 2026-09-01). The specifics we look at on a TXT:
- 36-volt carts are worth less than the 48-volt series-wound and later PDS carts.
- The steel frame rusts in coastal areas — we check the rear frame rails and the battery tray.
- Petrol TXTs with the 295cc twin or the EX1 engine hold value well in areas with long drives.
- A fresh battery pack, rear seat and lights lift a TXT into the next price band.
Collection in Cape Town
Here's how it works: you send photos and answer a short form; we reply with a firm written offer within 24 hours; if you're happy, you accept and sign on your phone and pick a two-hour collection window. On the day we check the cart matches the photos, load it, and pay by EFT before we drive away.
Cape Town, the Winelands, the Overberg and the West Coast are covered by our regular Cape run, so most Cape Town collections happen within a week of you accepting.
We collect from Steenberg, Westlake, Constantia, Atlantic Beach, Melkbosstrand and the rest of the area.
Questions sellers ask
How much is an E-Z-GO TXT worth in Cape Town?
Typically R20 000 – R75 000 in Western Cape, depending on year, power (electric or petrol), seats and condition. 36-volt carts are worth less than the 48-volt series-wound and later PDS carts. Send photos for an exact written offer within 24 hours.
How quickly can you collect a TXT in Cape Town?
Usually within a week of accepting. Cape Town, the Winelands, the Overberg and the West Coast are covered by our regular Cape run, so most Cape Town collections happen within a week of you accepting.
Do you buy golf carts that aren't running?
We do. Non-runners are a big part of what we buy around Cape Town, because we refurbish and resell carts ourselves. A cart with a tired lead-acid pack is still worth real money to us — the offer just allows for the new pack.
Is the offer really free, and do I have to accept it?
Yes and no. The offer is free and there's no obligation at all — it's a firm number, valid for seven days, and you can accept, counter or walk away. We'd rather you took our number to compare than felt pressured.
What do I need on the day of collection?
Your ID, the charger and keys, and the cart where we can load it. We check that it matches your photos, sign off the sale agreement you already signed on your phone, and pay by EFT before we drive away. If the cart lives behind a gate, let security know we're coming or send us a visitor code with your booking.
