Oubaai: what to expect

Selling a cart on Oubaai is straightforward: our drivers are used to golf estate gates — let security know WeBuyCarts is collecting, or send us a visitor code with your booking. Many Oubaai sellers are moving house; book the collection for the week before transfer and we'll pay on the day.

The process is the same wherever you are: photos and a few details from your phone, a written offer within 24 hours, then accept, sign and book a collection slot online. We arrive with our own transport and pay by EFT before we drive away. No viewings, no time-wasters, no transport to arrange.

Because we're based in George, Oubaai collections are quick — typically one to three working days after you accept, often sooner.

What we pay at Oubaai

Most private carts we buy at Oubaai fall between R40 000 – R180 000, with lithium four- and six-seaters at the top. These are typical private-sale bands (updated 2026-09-01); the offer we send is the exact figure we'll pay.

Salt air is the big one on the coast. Lead-acid battery terminals corrode, steel frames and trays rust, and cables go green — none of which stops us buying, but it does change what we pay. A Oubaai cart that has been rinsed and kept under cover is worth noticeably more than one left on the driveway, so a couple of photos of the battery tray and the underside help us give you our best number.

Most of the carts we buy around Oubaai come off golf estates, and most of them go straight back onto one. That's the whole reason we can pay well here: there is always a family on the next street who needs a four-seater. Tell us which golf estate the cart lives on and whether it meets the golf estate's speed and lighting rules — it helps us price it exactly.

  • Mainstream lead-acid (2013–2019): R40 000 – R75 000 (e.g. Club Car Precedent, E-Z-GO RXV, Yamaha Drive)
  • Premium lithium 4-seater (2019+): R85 000 – R150 000 (e.g. Club Car Onward / Tempo, E-Z-GO RXV ELiTE, Yamaha Drive2)
  • 6-seater / lifted / street kit: R90 000 – R180 000 (e.g. Any brand, 4+2 rear seat, lift kit, lights) — highest demand on estates

What we look at in your photos

Six phone photos are enough — front, back, both sides, the seats and the battery pack. From those we can see almost everything that sets the price:

  • Body, seats and canopy — cracks, sun damage and torn seats all cost money to put right.
  • Extras — rear flip seat, lights, lift kit, sound system, enclosure. Tidy factory-style extras add real value.
  • Battery type and age — the single biggest factor. A dated invoice or a photo of the date stamp helps.
  • Charger, keys and manual — a working charger and both keys make the cart easier to resell, and our offer stronger.

Questions sellers ask

Do I need to arrange access for you at Oubaai?

Just let the gate or the office know WeBuyCarts is collecting on the day, or send us a visitor code with your booking. Our drivers are used to golf estate procedures.

How soon can you collect at Oubaai?

Usually 1–3 working days of accepting. Because we're based in George, Oubaai collections are quick — typically one to three working days after you accept, often sooner.

I'm selling my Oubaai home — can you take the cart before transfer?

Yes, that's one of the most common reasons people sell to us. Book a collection slot before your move-out date and we'll pay on the day; the buyer of your home can start fresh with their own cart.

Do you buy golf carts that aren't running?

Yes. Dead batteries, a faulty charger, a controller fault, a cart that has stood for two years — we buy all of them. The offer simply reflects the repair cost. Tell us what's wrong in the form and photograph the battery pack; that's usually all we need.

Is the offer really free, and do I have to accept it?

Yes and no. The offer is free and there's no obligation at all — it's a firm number, valid for seven days, and you can accept, counter or walk away. We'd rather you took our number to compare than felt pressured.

What do I need on the day of collection?

Your ID, the charger and keys, and the cart where we can load it. We check that it matches your photos, sign off the sale agreement you already signed on your phone, and pay by EFT before we drive away. If the cart lives behind a gate, let security know we're coming or send us a visitor code with your booking.
