What a used ICON i20 is worth
In South Africa the ICON i20 trades between roughly R55 000 – R110 000 depending on year, power and condition. The offer we send is the exact figure we'll pay; the bands below show where the range comes from:
- Lithium 2- or 4-seater (2020+): R55 000 – R110 000 (e.g. Excar, HDK, LVTong, ICON, Evolution) — factory lithium holds value
What we check on an i20
Every ICON i20 we buy gets the same look in the photos, plus the things that matter on this particular model:
- 2022-onward lithium i20s are worth clearly more than the 48-volt lead-acid originals.
- Check the touchscreen, lights and the seatbelts — LSV kit is a selling point.
- Steep early depreciation, then a flat curve: a three-year-old i20 is good value for a buyer and priced accordingly.
- Battery type and age — the single biggest factor. A dated invoice or a photo of the date stamp helps.
- Body, seats and canopy — cracks, sun damage and torn seats all cost money to put right.
Selling your i20: how it works
The process is the same wherever you are: photos and a few details from your phone, a written offer within 24 hours, then accept, sign and book a collection slot online. We arrive with our own transport and pay by EFT before we drive away. No viewings, no time-wasters, no transport to arrange.
We collect anywhere in South Africa with our own transport, and because we refurbish and resell carts ourselves, an i20 that needs batteries or a clean-up is still worth real money to us.
Other ICON models
Not sure if yours is an i20? Check the serial plate under the seat or the dash, or just send photos — we'll identify it. Other ICONs we buy: i40, i40L, i40F, i60, i60L, i60F.
Questions sellers ask
How much is an ICON i20 worth?
Typically R55 000 – R110 000 for a private sale in South Africa, depending on year, power (lead-acid or lithium), seats and condition. 2022-onward lithium i20s are worth clearly more than the 48-volt lead-acid originals. Send photos for an exact written offer within 24 hours.
Do you buy an i20 that isn't running?
Yes. Dead batteries, charger faults, controller problems — we buy i20s in any condition and the offer simply reflects the repair. Photograph the battery pack and tell us what's wrong.
Is a lithium i20 worth more?
Yes — factory lithium (or a documented conversion) is the single biggest value driver on an i20. It can be worth a third more than the same cart on lead-acid, because the next owner isn't facing a new pack.
Do you buy golf carts that aren't running?
We do. Non-runners are a big part of what we buy around South Africa, because we refurbish and resell carts ourselves. A cart with a tired lead-acid pack is still worth real money to us — the offer just allows for the new pack.
Is the offer really free, and do I have to accept it?
Yes and no. The offer is free and there's no obligation at all — it's a firm number, valid for seven days, and you can accept, counter or walk away. We'd rather you took our number to compare than felt pressured.
What do I need on the day of collection?
Your ID, the charger and keys, and the cart where we can load it. We check that it matches your photos, sign off the sale agreement you already signed on your phone, and pay by EFT before we drive away. If the cart lives behind a gate, let security know we're coming or send us a visitor code with your booking.
