Onrus & Vermont: what to expect
Onrus & Vermont carts are mostly holiday and retirement runabouts: low hours, some salt, batteries that have sometimes stood flat over winter. We're used to collecting from second homes — a neighbour or caretaker with the keys is all we need on the day.
The process is the same wherever you are: photos and a few details from your phone, a written offer within 24 hours, then accept, sign and book a collection slot online. We arrive with our own transport and pay by EFT before we drive away. No viewings, no time-wasters, no transport to arrange.
Onrus & Vermont sits on our Cape run — we're in the area most weeks, and we confirm a collection date with your offer, usually within seven days.
What we pay in Onrus & Vermont
Most private carts we buy in Onrus & Vermont fall between R40 000 – R180 000, with lithium four- and six-seaters at the top. These are typical private-sale bands (updated 2026-09-01); the offer we send is the exact figure we'll pay.
Salt air is the big one on the coast. Lead-acid battery terminals corrode, steel frames and trays rust, and cables go green — none of which stops us buying, but it does change what we pay. A Onrus & Vermont cart that has been rinsed and kept under cover is worth noticeably more than one left on the driveway, so a couple of photos of the battery tray and the underside help us give you our best number.
Retirement-village carts are usually the easiest sale of all: one careful owner, short trips, garaged, serviced. If you're helping a parent sell, we'll deal with you directly, keep the paperwork simple and pay by EFT before we drive away — no cash, no strangers at the door.
- Mainstream lead-acid (2013–2019): R40 000 – R75 000 (e.g. Club Car Precedent, E-Z-GO RXV, Yamaha Drive)
- Premium lithium 4-seater (2019+): R85 000 – R150 000 (e.g. Club Car Onward / Tempo, E-Z-GO RXV ELiTE, Yamaha Drive2)
- 6-seater / lifted / street kit: R90 000 – R180 000 (e.g. Any brand, 4+2 rear seat, lift kit, lights) — highest demand on estates
What we look at in your photos
Six phone photos are enough — front, back, both sides, the seats and the battery pack. From those we can see almost everything that sets the price:
- Extras — rear flip seat, lights, lift kit, sound system, enclosure. Tidy factory-style extras add real value.
- Charger, keys and manual — a working charger and both keys make the cart easier to resell, and our offer stronger.
- Body, seats and canopy — cracks, sun damage and torn seats all cost money to put right.
- Battery type and age — the single biggest factor. A dated invoice or a photo of the date stamp helps.

Questions sellers ask
Do I need to arrange access for you at Onrus & Vermont?
No — we come to your home. If the cart is in a complex or behind a gate, a visitor code or a note at the gate is all we need.
How soon can you collect in Onrus & Vermont?
Usually within a week of accepting. Onrus & Vermont sits on our Cape run — we're in the area most weeks, and we confirm a collection date with your offer, usually within seven days.
Do you buy golf carts that aren't running?
Yes. Dead batteries, a faulty charger, a controller fault, a cart that has stood for two years — we buy all of them. The offer simply reflects the repair cost. Tell us what's wrong in the form and photograph the battery pack; that's usually all we need.
Is the offer really free, and do I have to accept it?
Yes and no. The offer is free and there's no obligation at all — it's a firm number, valid for seven days, and you can accept, counter or walk away. We'd rather you took our number to compare than felt pressured.
What do I need on the day of collection?
Your ID, the charger and keys, and the cart where we can load it. We check that it matches your photos, sign off the sale agreement you already signed on your phone, and pay by EFT before we drive away. If the cart lives behind a gate, let security know we're coming or send us a visitor code with your booking.
